How To Wear A Red Coat (And Your Motivation To Go For It)

You know what they say the moment the clock strikes 12, “New Year,  New Me!”.

Bulls**t.

We all know it, yet we keep on lying to ourselves that this time it will be different.

So here’s an idea that doesn’t have to be chanted out loud to be motivating:

Instead of setting a big fat goal for yourself this year, settle for a list of tasks that’ll get you there.

Sure, they won’t sound as grand.

And they sure as hell won’t be fun to accomplish.

But they will get you closer to your goal than hoping-and-wishing ever will.

What does all this have to do with the pictures here, you ask?

It’s part of a bigger plot to convince you to wear more colour in the year to come.

I don’t know if there’s such a thing as a sartorial resolution, but if there isn’t, let’s make one. Right here, right now.

Take my hand, look me in the eyes and say:

“I vow to wear more colour this year. And I vow to LIKE it.”*

Ok, the last part was a bit sneaky of me. But doesn’t that make you feel excited?

Here comes the kicker (and the reason why this will work for you in many more ways than just the sartorial aspect of it):

_____

*If you’re already wearing lots of colour, you’ve earned the right to skip to the end.

The moment you commit to being bolder in your sartorial choices, you’ll commit to being bolder in your life choices, too:

Make the first step.

Ask the boy out.

Wear that crop top.

Down that cocktail.

Reach for the last slice of pizza.

In a nutshell, dare to ask for more and be ready to receive it.

Because the truth is, I’ve learned, that the one who doesn’t ask does not receive.

Remember, “A goal without a plan is just a wish,” as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said.

And your newfound goal needs to be broken down into more chewable (and yummier) bites.**

Case in point:

Add at least one colourful element to every area of your wardrobe. From shoes or bags to outerwear or lingerie.

Make it a point to wear one of them at least once per week.

And make it a point to act a bit bolder on the day you’re wearing it.

*

Simple, effective and doable every week in 2018. Or every day if you feel like living it up.***

Bring it.

Have fun with it.

And most of importantly, reinvent yourself in the process.

_____

** Commonly referred to as tasks, but doesn’t that word do the exact opposite of motivating you? Ugh.

*** Yeees! Let’s make it the year of living it up. 💪🏻

PS: If you’re still looking for the perfect over-the-knee pair of boots, I can’t recommend Zara’s offering enough. They fit like a dream, attract ALL the compliments and make me feel fresh. So much win right there. So give them a shot!

PPS: If you know of a fun & flouncy mini skirt that has just the right amount of thickness and sass, let me know. They’re harder to come by than I’d like to admit.

I am in love with how creative you are! The layout of this post is beautiful. I started adding more color to my wardrobe last year and it was such a good decision! It really does affect how you feel when you’re wearing it. And I completely agree with creating little tasks to accomplish in order to meet a bigger goal. It helps make it more doable and less scary x
